The European Commission has introduced the AI Act, a game-changing regulatory framework aimed at governing the development and deployment of artificial intelligence technologies. This comprehensive framework categorizes AI systems into four risk levels, ensuring that appropriate measures are in place to address potential risks and safeguard user rights.

📜 Under this new regulation, AI applications that pose clear threats to individuals or society, such as social scoring systems and dangerous toys, are outright banned. High-risk AI systems, including those used in critical infrastructure like healthcare and transportation, face stringent requirements to ensure transparency, accountability, and human oversight.

👮 To oversee the enforcement of these regulations, the European AI Office has been established, tasked with ensuring that AI technologies respect human dignity and fundamental rights. The AI Act will be fully applicable in two years, with certain exceptions to allow for a smooth transition.

📓 In parallel, the Coordinated Plan on AI aims to boost investment and foster collaboration across Europe to drive innovation in the field of artificial intelligence. These initiatives collectively aim to position Europe as a global leader in the development and deployment of ethical AI technologies.
